Alright, we made it through the week of testing.  That means we have only 19 school days left.  It is coming fast, and in case I haven't said it earlier, thank you for letting me teach yor children.  This has been above all a learning year for me. I taught in sixth and eighth before coming to seventh.  It is, to use a cliche, awesome.  I have had a tremendous team around me.  Thank you to Ms. Brown, Ms. Gammon, and Ms. Shields.  Thank you, especially, parents, for your tremendous encouragement and support.

Coming up, we will have a summative assessment this Thursday over the economics of Asia.  A study guide has been presented.  It is due on wednesday.  We will go over it, before it is handed back to students. We will complete the year with a study of government types in Asia, some personal finance (personal economics) and a unit on Geography of Georgia (yes, the state-not the country).  This will give students a taste of what is to come in 8th grade.  Please write with any question, comments, concerns.

Thursday March 26, 2009

Today, students continued their study of and discussion of events that led the United States to become involved in the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam.  The focus was on the Policy of Containment, as well as the Domino Theory.  They seemed to understand the concept, as we useed real dominoes to make a the point.  Students played with them, and then were asked to make connections to communism, using constructive learning.

There is a  test planned for Thursday April 2, 2009.  There is a vocabulary sheet due Monday march 30.  The vocabulary sheets, while long, I believe, are helpful for student exposure to specific terms, especially as we approach CRCT.  Please write with any questions.
