SOCIAL STUDIES - Test over Georgia geography Tuesday.

Week of April 13, 2009

Hope everyone had a great spring break.  Some of your papers I graded may have sunscreen on them or sand.  Yes I did grade some on the beach. 

SCIENCE - Quiz  Thursday on the Digestive and Excretory Systems.  Make sure you look at Your Human Body Book.  I will be taking the book up so make sure you have it complete.  Today we discussed the circulatory system.  Hopefully I can find a few video clips of real beating hearts.  Homework is to color the heart blue and red.  Define the vocabulary words in section 1 and 2 of the Circulatory chapter.

SOCIAL STUDIES - Good morning Vietnam.  We look at the Vietnam War today.  Your homework is the causes, who was involved, and consequences of the wars in Korea and Vietnam.  Quality work is expected.  Test over Vietnam and Japan next Tuesday. 

SCIENCE - Test postponed to Friday because of assembly.  Timeline started today.  Some need to do a little extra on their novel studies.  If by chance I missed you today, I will talk with you tomorrow.  Study notes, voc., and chapter 7 and 8 (the parts that we studied).

SOCIAL STUDIES - China started today.  Make sure you read the first section and completed vocabulary and questions.

Week of March 23, 2009

SCIENCE - Notes given on natural selection.  Fossil Lab was started today.  Several classes still have to finish part 2 analysis.  Bring book, notebook, calculator, and colored pencils tomorrow for our timeline of the earth's biological history.  Still plan on the test on Thursday even though we have an honor's program, if necessary we can complete it on Friday.  HW:  Read 8.1 and 8.2.  Start looking over your notes on Evolution.

SOCIAL STUDIES - India - economy and government (including problems facing India today)

Please bring money and permission for field trip.  It is due on Friday, April 3rd.

Week of March 16, 2009

The Simpson Shuffle Run/Walk and Health Fair  will be held on Friday, March 27, 4:30-6:30 PM.  Registration forms for the run/walk can be found at the front office and on the Simpson web site www.cobbk12.org/~simpson.   Proceeds will support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life which raises funds to fight cancer.  Please join us!  Together we can make a difference.

SOCIAL STUDIES - Totally awesome benchmark scores!!!  We will continue our study of the subcontinent of India looking at history, government, and economics.  I assigned a brief homework assignment and only 50% of my students completed it.  This is not acceptable. 

SCIENCE - For the next 10 days we will continue our study of evolution.  Some activities will be a fossil lab, gallery walk (started yesterday), timeline, and computer acitvities.  Tenative date for a test is Thursday the 26th.  CRCT is coming so let's prepare for that.

Thursday March 12

Field Trip to the GA Nature Center is May 5, please send in permission slips & money as soon as you can to ensure your child a seat on the bus. Permission Slips have been sent home. Cost of trip is $25.00 (includes transportation, admission, & Chick-fil-a Lunch).
