We are currently writing our compare/contrast essay and will finish by Friday! In addition, we are studying a 7th grade unit on verbs. Students have 4 literature responses due this Thursday and need to turn in textbooks soon thereafter.

Hello,

We are continuing to read The City of Ember and should have it finished by early May. I'm so glad you are enjoying it! It really is an exciting novel.

Our focus next will be writing our compare-contrast essay. Next week will be spent reading about and taking notes on the various organizational structures of these types of essays.

Students also received the new reading assignment for the end of the year:( I can't believe it's almost over! They will be reading selections, ten to be exact, and need to complete a different response for each. The first three are due next Thursday.Download Literature Review 2009

Welcome to the Deli!

Students received information regarding the book review for the last quarter. They need to read a book within their lexile range-that range was calculated together and is written in the agenda. Please help your child find a book within his/her range! There is a website, www.lexile.com, in which you can get a list of books within a specific lexile range.We also did this in class, so the kids are somewhat familiar with the site. The book review is due April 16, and is to be completed in lieu of the reading log.

With CRCT fast approachng, we have been reviewing daily. Next week, students will be placed in groups, so more intensive review can be done. Please encourage your child to review notes, visit the links on the blog, and also search the web for games specific to their needs.

THERE WILL BE A PRONOUN QUIZ FRIDAY.

This evening, please review your notes on reflexive and personal pronouns.As we have gone over with the students, reviewing your notes means doing something "hands on" with them-flashcards, rewriting them or typing them. There will be a total of 6 pronouns that we will cover this week.

We have been reviewing the concept of theme in literature.Yesterday we read "The Stone" and today "The Fun They Had." Students, please practice identifying theme while reading your novel and/or watching a television program.

In addition, we also have become experts in the writing of Limericks! We will continue writing tomorrow while we read another story from our textbook.

The Simpson Shuffle Run/Walk and Health Fair  will be held on Friday, March 27, 4:30-6:30 PM.  Registration forms for the run/walk can be found at the front office and on the Simpson web site www.cobbk12.org/~simpson.   Proceeds will support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life which raises funds to fight cancer.  Please join us!  Together we can make a difference.
