Mon. - Welcome back to school. Hope everyone had a great break. We will be practicing our political loctions until Thursday. This week we will be studying Africa Culture. In the World Cultures and Geography book read Chapter 17 Section 2.
Tues. - We will be examining the cultural characteristics of four Africa Ethnic Groups and you should be able to answer the following question: What are the diversity of religions within Arab, Ashanti, Bantu and Swahili ethnic groups? We will start looking at video clips on the ethnic groups. STUDY POLITICAL LOCATIONS. Review the three religious groups that you learned about in the Middle East Unit (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam).
Wed. - We will be comparing and contrasting the four culture groups and their religions after we add information for Traditional Religions.
Thurs. - After the Africa Political Map Assessment, we will be completing a matrix on ethnic and relgious groups of Africa. A short video clip on Africa's People will be viewed today or tomorrow.
Fri. - You will be given the Africa Geography and Culture Study Guide. You will need to be able to answer the following - Where are Africa's Political and Physical Features located? How does water pollution and unequal distribution of water impact irrigation, trade and industry, and drinking water? What is the relationship between poor soil and deforestation? What is the impact of Desertification on the environment of Africa's Climate Regions? How do characteristics in the Sahara, Sahel, savanna, and tropical rain forest affect where people live, the type of work they do and how they travel? What are the diversity of religions within Arab, Ashanti, Bantu, and Swahili ethnic groups? How does literacy affect the standard of living in Africa?
