ALL WORK IS DUE BY WEDNESDAY.

Mon. - We reviewed the four Africa History Standards. You will be writing tomorrow on how one of these history standard elements affected the people of Africa. You will also draw a political cartoon to go with your choice. Finally copies my only be done in class tomorrow.

TONIGHT - Review directions for political cartoon and notes for essays. Decide what you are going to write about and what cartoon you could draw. You have permission to work oh your rough draft and rough scatch at home tonight.

Tues. - You should have no homework the rest of the week provided you have turned all of your work in.

Wed. and Thursday- testing

Dec. 12th - 16th

REMEMBER YOUR LAST ASSESSMENT IS FRIDAY. You need to study every night for your Africa Vocbulary Assessment.

Make sure you complete your Africa Vocabulary extension on how each word applies to or relates to African History. This is due on Thursday.

You will be turning in on Friday the Africa Vocab. definitions that were assigned last week.

FRIDAY IS ALSO THE LAST DAY YOU MAY TURN IN LATE ASSIGNMENTS AND WORK.

December 5th - 9th

Mon. - We reviewed for the Africa Geography Assessment and checked the Africa Geography Study Guide.

Tues. - Africa Geography Assessment. Start background reading for Africa History. World Cultures and Geography p. 502-506, 507-511, 513-516, 523-524, 537, 545 - 548, 561-563. Georgia's Exploring Our World p. 62-70, 74, 104-105, 109. FINISH FOR HOMEWORK THIS WEEK. chunking it would be better.

Wed. - Who owns a country? We will be looking at why Europe was interested in colonizing Africa. COMPLETE VOCABULARY

Thurs. - What were the effects of colonialism on the people of Africa? Know the positives and the negatives. REVIEW VOCABULARY AND NOTES.

Fri. - What was the role of nationalism in Africa? How is the Struggle for Independence like a Wildfire in Africa? STUDY VOCABULARY AND NOTES.

Don't forget to complete your Africa Physical Geography Study Guide. It is due Monday 12/5 and you have your assessment on Tuesday 12/6.

Mon. - Welcome back to school. Hope everyone had a great break. We will be practicing our political loctions until Thursday. This week we will be studying Africa Culture. In the World Cultures and Geography book read Chapter 17 Section 2.

Tues. - We will be examining the cultural characteristics of four Africa Ethnic Groups and you should be able to answer the following question: What are the diversity of religions within Arab, Ashanti, Bantu and Swahili ethnic groups? We will start looking at video clips on the ethnic groups. STUDY POLITICAL LOCATIONS. Review the three religious groups that you learned about in the Middle East Unit (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam).

Wed. - We will be comparing and contrasting the four culture groups and their religions after we add information for Traditional Religions.

Thurs. - After the Africa Political Map Assessment, we will be completing a matrix on ethnic and relgious groups of Africa. A short video clip on Africa's People will be viewed today or tomorrow.

Fri. - You will be given the Africa Geography and Culture Study Guide. You will need to be able to answer the following - Where are Africa's Political and Physical Features located? How does water pollution and unequal distribution of water impact irrigation, trade and industry, and drinking water? What is the relationship between poor soil and deforestation? What is the impact of Desertification on the environment of Africa's Climate Regions? How do characteristics in the Sahara, Sahel, savanna, and tropical rain forest affect where people live, the type of work they do and how they travel? What are the diversity of religions within Arab, Ashanti, Bantu, and Swahili ethnic groups? How does literacy affect the standard of living in Africa?

November 14th - 18th

REMEMBER AFRICA PHYSICAL MAP QUIZ IS THURSDAY 11/15. Please get any missing work turned in before it is too late.

Mon. - Reviewed Africa Physical features. Examined how physical features affect life on the continent. Viewed a video clip of Geogrphy of the World Africa to identify these affects from the physical features. Mapping Questions of relative locations we given for you to identify the physical feature. These are to be finished at home.

Tues. - Seven Environmental Issues will be examined. You will fill in your organizer with information on these issues with a focuse on water pollution (not what you normally thing of as water pollution), unequal distribution of water, deforestation, and desertification. When we are finished, you will be giving one possible solution to one of the problems. STUDY FOR THE PHYSICAL MAP QUIZ. 

Wed. - We will be examining four climate regions of Africa (You will find these are pretty much the same as your Biomes that you have been studying in Science.) On your organizer you should be writing characteristics of each region, what life is supported there, what resources it has, and what environmental issues it has for each of the four regions. Then you will be writing essays based on the information you learned and recorded on your organizer. STUDY FOR THE PHYSICAL MAP QUIZ.

Thursday - Africa Physical Map Quiz is today (Everyone should ace this after doing our edible map activity. Don't you think?). After the quiz you will be learning how does wter supply influence development and how can farmland become desert. (Once you learn these concepts you should be able to use them no matter what region you are studying).

Friday - We will be doing Semantic Maps th check your understanding of the environmental issues such as water, unequal distribution, deforestation, and desertification, etc.

You will have your Africa Political Map Quiz the week you return. You may want to study in your spare time. HAVE A RESTFUL AND BLESSED THANKSGIVING BREAK and think of those less fortunate this season.

Oct. 31st - Nov. 4th

Monday - After a review of the factors of production the focus will be on Economic Specialization with a Case Study of Hershey Company. You will need your reverse vocabulary, trade barrier detectives, and Economic Vocabulary finished and with you in class today. STUDY VOCABULARY.

Tues. - You will have a post quiz on the basic Economic Terms today. We be investigating the basic economic systems and how they are organized today. STUDY YOUR NOTES AND VOCABULARY. BEGIN WORKING ON YOUR STUDY GUIDE.

Wed. - We will continue with the Government Economic Systems of Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Then we will work on an activity addressing the role of oil and water in the countries of Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. FINISH YOUR STUDY GUIDE.

Thurs. - Entrepreneurship and O.P.E.C. will be discussed and we will be reviewing for the M.E. Economic Assessment.

Fri.- We will be doing the M.E. Economic Assessment today. This gives you another day to study. Thank you Math department.

October 24th - 28th

Please read p. 160 Living Standards, p. 170-174, and 180-183 in Georgia's Exploring Our World and p. 455-456, and 459 nomadic culture in World Cultures and Geography.

M.E. ECONOMIC UNIT ASSESSMENT IS NEXT THURSDAY.

Mon. - Finish M.E. Government Project. Due at the end of class

Tues. - Presentation of Projects

Wed. - We will be beginning M.E. Economics. We will go over the Economic Vocabulary. You will need to study the types of economies and how they answer to 3 questions (what, how and for whom to produce). You will need to understand on a continuum between pure market and pure commany where most countires are. Please study your notes.

Thurs. - We will be studying the relationship between investment in capital (factories, machinery, and technology) and GDP. You will also explain the role of oil in the M.E. countries' economy. Please study your notes. YOUR VOCABULARY ACTIVITY IS DUE MONDAY.

Fri. - We will be comparing and contrasting the vaious trade barriers and understanding the primary function of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
