You may notice that the weights for the categories on Pinnacle have changed somewhat to reflect more accurately the amount of time and emphasis we are giving this nine weeks to the different standards. Our primary unit of study for this nine weeks is Response to Literature. The majority of our remaining time this school year will be spent reading novels and writing about them. Therefore, the Conventions category has changed from 35 percent of the total grade to 20 percent, and the Reading category had changed from 20 percent to 35 percent of the total grade. The Writing category and the Listening, Speaking, and Viewing category remain unchanged.
After the CRCT testing this morning, we continued with reading and analyzing The Giver. If you were absent, you need to confer with a classmate to update your notes and vocabulary lists. If you do not have your own copy of the book, you may arrange to come to school early to catch up with the rest of the class on the reading.
