Week of 5/19 - 5/23

It has been a great Olympics.  Championships include crab soccer, matball, touchdown, hockey and goal line soccer. 

Thursday will be Awards Day.  The Olympic trophy will be given to the top team/country in each grade level.  PE awards will be given to our most outstanding physical education students.

Students need to take their clothes Wednesday after class.

Week of 5/12 - 5/16

OLYMPICS CONTINUE

The finals of boys' hockey, girls' touchdown and goal line soccer will be played.  Crab soccer and the 4 x 1/2 relay will complete the events in the orange bracket.  Depending on the weather, the next events could include basketball, kickball or handball and sharks and minnows.  It is a very tight race.  Sportsmanship and spirit will play a big part in the attainment of the Olympic trophy.

OLYMPICS CONTINUE!!!

Events this week include the finals of boys' touchdown, girls' hockey and 3 ball soccer.  Play will begin for girls' touchdown, boys' hockey and goal line soccer.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The week begins with the last Pacer test of the year.  The Olympics continue this week.  Events include hockey, touchdown and 3 ball soccer.  Countries are demonstrating excellent sportsmanship during the events.

The Olympic games continue.  The sportsmanship has been outstanding.  Students are showing spirit by wearing the shirt color representing their country.  This week's events include the finals of boys and girls football, finals of volleyball, angleball and softball.

Week of 4/14 - 4/18

LET THE GAMES BEGIN

Olympics begin this week.  Sweden, Italy and Canada are the countries represented this year.  Each event will last two days will the winning team receiving 5 points, second place receiving 3 points and third place receiving 1 point.  Sportsmanship points are also given for each activity.  Good sportsmanship is rewarded with the same number of points as a first place win.  The first events are boys soccer, girls soccer and frisbee challenge.

Week of 3/31 - 4/4

This week we will be preparing for the Simpson Olympics.  Captains will be chosen by the PE staff and a silent draft will be held to pick the athletes for each country. The countries represented this year include Canada, Sweden and Italy.  Athletes will be signing up for the events in which they would like to participate.  The Olympics are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 15.  Activities included in the Olympics will be practiced up until the event begins.

Week of 3/24 - 3/28

This week the girls will finish their frisbee unit with Frisbee Challenge.  They will get to demonstrate their throwing and catching skills along with a variety of strategies to get all their frisbees into the opponent's end zone.  After frisbee, team handball will begin with the lead game touchdown, skills and drills.

Boys will complete their team handball unit with tournament play.  This will be followed by the frisbee unit.  Practice will include different throws, catches and game strategies.

Week of 3/17 - 3/21

This nine weeks begin with a review of the PE rules and expectations. The girls will begin a unit in frisbee.  We will be practicing a variety of throws and catches that can be used in activities such as frisbee golf, frisbee angleball, capture the frisbee and frisbee challenge.  The boys will begin a unit in team handball.  This week will feature many skills, drills and lead up game in preparation for the team handball tournament.
