Homework- Classification test on MONDAY!
Review- classification, taxonomy, dichotomous keys, branching diagrams, etc.
New information- Notes on the 6 kingdoms of life/new vocabulary- unicellular, multicellular, prokaryotic, eukaryotic, heterotroph, autotroph, sessile
Students began a chart on the kingdoms of life. We will complete this in class on Tuesday.
Homework- Study notes on the kingdoms
On Tuesday and Wednesday, students practiced classification and using/making dichotomous keys. Today students took notes on classifying organisms and watched a 20 minute video on classification of living things.
Homework- Review notes on classifying organisms.
Reminder- Test on classification on Monday, 5/18
Today we began our 2 week unit on classification. This is a 7th grade unit. Since we have completed the 6th grade curriculum we hope to give students a head start on next year's curriculum!
Classification is a skill that we worked on this year during our rock and mineral unit. Today we briefly reviewed the basics of classification and dichotomous keys. Students practiced the skill of classification by classifying shoes.
There is no homework tonight. The test on this unit will be on Monday, May 18. Students will have more notes than usual during this unit since this information is not in the 6th grade textbook. (I will begin collecting Science textbooks on Thursday.)
Students took a test today on the Earth, Moon, Sun System (seasons, moon phases, eclipses, and tides).
Tomorrow, students will participate in a group activity to investigate our use of renewable and nonrenewable sources of energy.
Next week, we begin a 2 week unit on classification. This is a 7th grade unit. Students seem excited about getting a jump start on life science for next year!
No homework Thursday or Friday!
Students finished CRCT testing today. Yeah!!
In Science class, we made quiz corrections on the astronomy quiz.
Homework- Test Thursday on moon phases, eclipses, seasons, and tides. The study guide for this test will be completed in class on Tuesday on Wednesday. Tonight students should study the quiz corrections as well as pages in their binder on seasons, phases, eclipses and tide. There isn't any new information to learn for the test. This week we will review the topics.
CRCT testing begins on Tuesday. The Science CRCT will be on Friday. There will not be any homework this week. Students need to relax when they get home and rest up for the next day of testing!
