6th GRADE

This week students will:

  • Continue "All About Me" PowerPoint project
  • Research Careers in Career Cruising
  • Present "All About Me" PowerPoint project

8TH GRADE

This week students will:

  • Present "It's My Business" projects
  • Design a "My Middle School Years" brochure or "All About Me" brochure
  • Complete An Applications
  • Design Mock Interviews (Time Permitting)
  • Video - Lone Star Kid

7th GRADE

This week students will:

  • Reconcile Bank Statement
  • Design a check register using Excel
  • Design a check using Word AutoShapes
  • View Money Rock - Video

Business and Computer Applications

WEEK OF MAY 12 THRU MAY 16

6th GRADE

This week students will:

  • Continue to format reports in the MLA and the Standard Report format
  • Test - Thursday (Review report worksheets, proofreader marks, punctuation rules, and know what finger strikes what key.)
  • Begin "All About Me" PowerPoint project
  • Introduction to the use of the Scanner (Bring a small snap shot of you, your family, or your pet from home to scan into your PowerPoint presentation.)

8th GRADE

This week students will:

Continue "It's My Business Project" - (Due Tuesday)

  • Present Project
  • Entrepreneur Research
  • Famous Entrepreneur Brochure
  • "My Middle School Years" Brochure
  • "It's My Party" - Project (Time Permitting)

7th GRADE

This week students will:

  • Key "Banking Terms Vocabulary" - Table format.
  • Complete "How to Open and Use a Checking Account" packet
  • Learn to make deposits
  • Learn to endorse checks
  • Learn to balance and reconcile an account

WEEK OF MAY 5 THRU MAY 9

6TH GRADE

This week students will:

  • Utilize MicroSoft Word's AutoShapes to complete a "Brag Sheet".
  • Format MLA One-Page Reports utilizing Word.
  • Learn to tab, set margins, double space, word wrap, centering titles in initial caps, and the Heading format of a MLA report.
  • Publisher - Mother's Day Card

8th GRADE

This week students will:

  • Problem Solve "You Are On Your Own" Excel Sample Activity
  • Problem-Solve your very own "You Are On Your Own" assignment. To do this, use your Career Monthly salary figures, Apartment Hunt rent figures, and seven additional transactions.  Discover if you are in the black or the red at the end of the month?)
  • Be introduced to Entrepreneurship
  • View a Video titled "Entrepreneurs For The Future"
  • Research and choose a business to discover ideas on what others your age are doing to earn money.
  • Design a "Mother's Day" card utilizing Publisher

7th GRADE

This week students will:

  • Utilize Excel to problem solve problems utilizing currency
  • Utilize Excel to problem solve problems to average student grades
  • Define spreadsheet terms
  • Finance introduction utilizing banking skills
  • Video - "Money Rocks"
  • Design a "Mother's Day" card utilizing Publisher

  • Learn CAPS LOCK and question mark (?)
  • Learn Tab and Backspace
  • Continue 1-Minute Timing
  • Word Introduction (Scavenger Hunt)
  • Introduction of MLA One-Page Report Formatting

8TH GRADE

This week students will:

  • Complete Word Processing Features and Vocabulary Packet
  • Be Introduction to Excel
  • Complete a University Cost Spreadsheet and Graph
  • Spreadsheet Enrichment Activities
  • Wed. - Re-Test covering MLA Multi-Page Formatting procedures and Proofreader Marks

(NOTE:  This week many 8th grade students will be out on Thursday and Friday due to Field Trips.)

7TH GRADE

This week students will:

  • Learn the use of the Numeric Keypad
  • Complete Numeric Keypad  lessons using MicroType4
  • Spreadsheet Introduction using "Spreadsheet Safari"
  • Problem Solve - Currency Activities
  • Problem Solve - Averaging Grades

  • Review parts of a Personal Business Letter and Block Style  Letter formatting
  • Career Research (Using the Internet - Career Cruising)
  • University Research (Using the Internet- Career Cruising)
  • Learn to format a MLA Multi-Page report with a Works Cited Page

7th Grade

This week students will:

  • Review MicroSoft Word procedures
  • Key documents using the MLA Report format
  • Research careers and key utilizing the MLA One Page report format.

Please Note: Students that are repeating Business this Quarter will have assignments that are somewhat different.

  • "Using the Internet" packet (Selected students due to repeating Business.)
  • 8-2 Will be introduced to "Choices" by Mr. DiPetrello our guest speaker for Monday and Tuesday. (Remember to complete your Apartment Hunt assignment this weekend (3-29/3-30)

  • 1-Minute Warm-Ups
  • 3-Minute Timings (5 errors or less)
  • High School Research Project (For Students who were in class 1stQtr. and have completed MicroType4 Lessons successfully.)

7th Grade

This week students will:

  • Strive to complete 6 lessons wihin MircorType4
  • 1-Minute Warm-Ups
  • 2-Minute Timings (3 errors or less)
