Hola estudiantes de español,

We’ve been practicing food terms, ordering and asking for items in a restaurant, and practicing our food unit vocabulary over the last week. This week we began to review for the final exam (Thursday, May 14th), reviewing the study guide worksheets and practicing vocabulary and grammar. We will continue reviewing tomorrow and I will have a final study session Thursday morning. After the final exam, we will continue to practice vocabulary with the food unit. We will have an end of year “Fiesta de Comida” celebration on Wednesday, May 20th. During this time we will also enhance our comprehension of terms in this unit by watching and discussing segments of Ratatouille in Spanish.

Hola estudiantes de español,

 

This week we will continue to learn to communicate in Spanish about food. Tonight, if you haven’t done so already, finish drawing, coloring and labeling your chosen dishes. These will be collected on Tuesday at the beginning of class. During the week we will continue to practice the food vocabulary and introduce additional items and phrases.

 

On Wednesday we will have a quick quiz on the food vocab and writing sentences using food vocab and previous phrases using verbs such as gustar, preferir, tener, comprar, etc.  If you wish to review the power point La comida y las bebidas, please click Download Comidas y bebidas. Hola estudiantes,

Here’s a revised schedule for this week. Yesterday we finished filming “El tiempo en español”. Tomorrow morning – before school beginning @ 8:00 AM – all missing reports must be filmed and any outstanding “at-home” tapings must be turned in. Please remember, if it cannot be downloaded onto my laptop and/or I can not open the file it is considered not received.

Today we reviewed stem-changing verbs in preparation for our quiz on Thursday. If you need to review the worksheets on stem-changing verbs click Download TU8- stem-changing verbs review worksheet . On Wednesday we will continue to practice with stem-changing verbs. Thursday will be our quiz. The quiz will include the definitions of the various “go” and stem-changing verbs we’ve been working with; the three types of conjugations; using stem-changing verbs in sentences. Please study your notes and worksheets. I will have a study session at 8:00 AM as usual.

On Friday – if I can complete the editing – we will watch “el tiempo” presentations.

el 23 al 27 de marzo

Hola estudiantes de español,

 

Today we continued with our review for the upcoming Unit Test on Wednesday, March 25th.  The test will include the following topics: el futuro simple; los dias; los meses; las estaciones; con que frecuencia; y el tiempo. Today we worked on the last section of the practice test and reviewed common errors students made on the prior quiz. Make sure you review the test study guide, the practice test, and your notes/worksheets.  Many of these documents have already been posted on my blog from previous days.

 

Tomorrow we will continue to review and practice for the test. After the test we will begin filming “El tiempo en español” – all day Thursday and Friday. Make sure you have your script fine-tuned and memorized. Also work with your partners to make sure you have any necessary props. If you need help with anything or would like me to review and comment on your script please come in before homeroom.

 

I will have a study session on Wednesday morning as usual.

Hola estudiantes,

Hoy, miércoles el 18 de marzo, we continued to review the standards in Thematic Unit #7. To see the entire review worksheet for the test (now scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th) please click Download Tema 7 - P6 - Practice Test TU7 . Today we did questions 1-10. More tomorrow.

Today we also began to refine the draft for the upcoming “El tiempo en español” (the weather forecast). You can review the guidelines in yesterday’s blog. The final drafts in Spanish are due tomorrow.

 

We will begin filming the broadcasts on March 24th. Please review all you –ar, -er, and –ir verbs. Many of you have forgotten them. Also make sure you know how to apply the simple future formula. You can review the notes in yesterday’s blog as well.

Hola estudiantes de español,

Today we began learning about the simple future tense (ir + a + the infinitive). To review the notes and in-class assignment for today please click Download TU 7 - Los apuntes - simple future . In addition, in preparation for the end of Unit oral exam we started worked on our TV weather reporter script as the warm-up exercise (5-7 sentences about the weather). For the outline of the project and requirements please click Download Unit #7 Speaking Assessment . For homework please write all the sentences ffrom the warm-up and prectice exercises in both the present and future tenses. Also write your draft of the script  for the weather show in Spanish. 

 

We will continue to work on these two topics during the rest of the week. In addition, we will also review for the Unit Test that we will take on Friday, March 20th.

All the editing is done on the “Postal electrónico”. We will view and critique these productions probably on Monday the 23rd.  On Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (the 24th and 25th) we will begin filming “el tiempo” .

This week we continued to review the different ways we communicate in Spanish about when and how often we do things, days of the week, months of the year, and the weather. In addition we learned about and practiced the –go verbs like “hacer, poner y salir” and the stem-changing verbs like “jugar”.  

For Monday, students need to have completed pages 35-38 and 42-44 in the red “Cuaderno de gramática” workbook.  In addition, any worksheets on this unit from the this week need to also be turned in on Monday.

Use the worksheets and the cuaderno de gramática activities to prepare for the quiz on Monday. Study and be prepared for the following:

Ø      The seasons

Ø      Frequency

Ø      The weather

Today we started Unit 7 with a review of days of the week and months of the year. We also covered the question words “cuándo” (when) and “cuántos” (how many – along with the key response word “hay” for there is/are). Tomorrow we will review the irregular verb “jugar” and continue to explore other similar irregular stem-changing verbs.

Hola estudiantes de español,

This week we finished our unit on the verb “gustar”. We learned to say what someone we likes or dislikes as well as ask what someone likes or dislikes. Tomorrow – Wednesday – we have a Unit Test. The test will include the use of the object pronouns to describe who likes/dislikes what (what is pleasing to whom); writing sentences in Spanish using the verb gustar (statements & questions); a recycling of –ar verb endings; and a a quick review of when to use the verbs “ser” and “estar”. Please also review the vocabulary – current and past.  As usual, I will have a study session Wednesday morning from 8:00 to approximately 8:30.
