Week of May 12th

6th Grade Health-This is a big week for some assignments being due. Thursday we will have our Unit 3 test over drugs, alcohol and tobacco, folders for this unit will also be due. The Health Packet of questions that the guys have been working on for the whole 9 weeks is due and the creation of their information pamphlet which they have had over a week to work on is due on Thursday. So May the 15th is a big day. We will be starting our Human Growth and Development Unit on Friday the 16th. Permission slips to participate in that unit must be returned before Friday or an alternate assignment will have to be done. We are almost there. Finish Strong.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-The Olympics continue despite some scheduling problems with different programs going on around the school.

Week of May 5th

6th Grade Health-The grades for Unit 2 have been posted. We will be starting our unit on Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco this week. There will be a project done as part of this unit and that will be explained to the guys on Monday. They will have 1 day in class to do the research for this project and then they will be able to complete it on their own. The permission slips for the Human Growth & Development Unit must be returned by May 15th in order for your son to be able to participate. Students who are not taking part will be given an alternate assignment which will be completed in another location. I have gotten the majority of these back already but there are a few still needing to be returned.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-The Olympics continue. Competition has been good and we continue to be blessed with good weather. Some field trips that involved a high number of students side-lined us for a couple of days last week but we will have a full week of competition this week. 15 school days left! Finish Strong.

Week of April 28th

Testing schedule continues through Tuesday. Good luck.

6th Grade Health-We will be finishing up our unit on Digestion and Nutrition with the Unit Test being on Friday, May 2nd. The guys should have a puzzle created by Wednesday which will serve as one part of our review for this unit. The main review will be done Thursday during class. Progress reports will be going home on Wednesday and there will be a permission slip for our Human Growth and Development Unit attached. This has to be returned before we start that unit on May 16th.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-The Olympics are continuing on even during the testing schedule. We have made some adjustments for Monday and Tuesday that allow us to have a longer class period on alternate days. The weather is holding for now and we are right on schedule. If we get a rain day, a second Pacer Test may be done. Attitude, Encouragement and Sportsmanship are being stressed during our Olympics and for the most part, we are getting positive efforts from the kids.

Week of April 21st

6th Grade Health-We have started our unit on Digestion and Nutrition and have had some very good discussion and questions so far. With CRCT Testing this week and part of next, our next Unit Test will not be until Friday, May 2nd. We had a Research Paper due last Friday the 18th and the ones that where turned in were very good for the most part. There were several guys that did not turn one in and I am hoping to see them early this week. They will be counted as late but that is better than the alternative.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-The Olympics have gotten off to a great start and it looks like we are going to have a good week of weather.

We will have an adjusted schedule during CRCT week that will give us adequate time to continue on with the Olympics. The shortened periods during testing week do not work very well for PE.

Week of April 14th

Welcome back, I hope everyone enjoyed Spring Break. We are on the home stretch-30 days of school left.

6th Grade Health-We have started our unit on Digestion and Nutrition. The guys have been assigned a topic and they have a one page research paper due on this topic on Friday the 18th. We spent the Friday before the break in the Media Center doing research. The test for this unit will not be this week and we will be pushed to get through by next week. There is a lot more information in this unit and I have told the guys that the next two tests are the hardest ones of the 9 weeks.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-The Olympics will begin this week. The students have been drafted into their countries and signed up for their activities. We encourage them to wear their countries' colors for PE. Teams will be given Spirit points for having the most people wearing their correct colors. Sportsmanship points will also be awarded for each activity. It should be the most fun time of the year to be in PE.

Finish Strong,

Coach White

Week of March 31st

6th Grade Health-Our first Unit Test will be given on Tuesday, April 1st (no fooling). We will be completing a review sheet in class on Monday. The information that should be in their Health folders and the review sheet should cover all the material that will be on the test. Folders will be turned in for a grade on the day of the test. We will start our next unit on Digestion and Nutrition on Wednesday and we will spend a day in the Media Center on Friday doing research for a short paper which will be due after Spring Break.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-We will be starting to get ready for our Olympics. It seems early, but with the testing schedule in April and a few other days that will affect us, we will be starting sooner than later. I would not be surprised if we ran a our first Pacer Test sometime this week. Any medical limitations for that should already be on file with us.

Week of March 24th

6th Grade Health-We are in the middle of our first unit which covers the 3 parts of the Health Triangle and how they affect our over-all Wellness. The guys are keeping up with their work in a folder which will be important for studying for the test and will also be turned in for a grade. Our first test will be on Tuesday April 1st and the review will be completed in class on March 31st. This is the easiest unit that we cover so it is important to get off to a good start. The 2 Health classes are pretty small and I hope that  will encourage some good participation and discussion.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-The guys will finish up Team Handball on Monday and the girls will complete Frisbee Challenge; then we will be switching activities for the remainder of this week. Organization and sign-up for the Olympics is going to be here before we know it. This is always an exciting time for us and we hope that the students maintain a proper attitude so that they may enjoy it as much as we do.

Week of March 17th

Welcome to the last 9 week section for this school year-unbelievable.

6th Grade Boy's Health-The course syllabus and information sheet will be coming home on Tuesday if we can keep a copier working long enough for me to run them off. My contact information will be on there. E-mail is the best option for getting in touch with me. Both classes are relatively small right now and that is good for discussion and individual work purposes. We will be getting started on our first unit which will be talking about the 3 parts of Health and Wellness Triangle by Wednesday.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-The classes are going to be larger for this 9 weeks due to Ms. Wilkes being out with her new baby. Activities will be varied leading up the the Olympics and we hope everyone enrolled will remain eligible to participate when this fun time rolls around. We do expect great behavior and sportsmanship from the people that will be involved in the Olympics.

We have started the Human Growth and Development Unit for this week and the guys have their booklet which will contain all of the work they will be required to do for this grade. They will be coming home with some questions for an adult in the household and I hope you will be willing to provide them with some information. They also have an information phamphlet that should be completed and will be turned in on Tuesday.

7th & 8th Grade Physical Education-We will be doing some Recreational Games this week and we will be running our final Pacer and having a written test over the activities from this 9 weeks.
