7th Grade Health classes have completed their Human growth Unit and started a unit on alcohol and drugs.  They will complete an advertisement analysis this week and a group presentation.  This nine weeks has really gone by too quickly.  We have covered a great deal of information and had some really good discussions.  If we had more time in the quarter the students could get their CPR certification.  Unfortunately, in order to certify all 26 students I would need an extra 2 weeks in the quarter. The students will be taught the basic information based on the standards.  Later in the year I am looking to possibly conduct a CPR certification class for any 7th grade students that may be interested in earning a babysitting certification.  I feel this might be more fitting for our students anyway.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. carin.wilkes@cobbk12.org

8th Grade Health students have been working on a drug presentation for the class.  They have been allowed time in the computer lab to compile researched information into a power point presentation.  I have previewed a couple already and they are fantastic.  Students will present their information along with an anti-drug campaign beginning on Tuesday Oct. 6th.  I have some cooperative activities to emphasize mental and social Health planned for the last two days of the quarter.

This past quarter has been a great success!!!
